Abstract

Artificial intelligence has become a strategic resource across product development, customer service, workforce management, financial planning, and operational governance in most modern organizations. Proof that this investment pays off, though, is still hard to come by, even as companies push past exploratory pilots into system-wide deployment. McKinsey's latest worldwide survey puts a number on that gap: 88% of companies report using AI in at least one functional area, but only 39% can point to any measurable impact on operational profit, and a mere 6% qualify as high performers. This paper takes up the problem of devising measures that close the distance between widespread adoption and demonstrated returns.
