No Submission Charges
There are no article submission charges, no charges for rejected articles, and no charges based on the length of an article, figures or supplementary data, etc. Editorial items (Editorials, Letters, Comments, Corrections, Additions, Retractions, etc.) are published free of charge.
Article Processing Charges
In an open access model, the publication charges of an article are paid by the author or from the author's research grant, or by their sponsoring institution, in the form of Article Processing Charges (APCs). These Article Processing Charges replace subscription charges and allow publishers to make barrier-free access to the full-text of all published articles worldwide immediately upon publication.
Besides, authors who publish in our open access journals retain the copyright of their work, which is released under a “Creative Commons Attribution License,” enabling the unrestricted use, distribution, and reproduction of an article in any medium provided the original work is properly cited.
The submitted manuscript passes through the many stages listed below. These tasks involve certain costs which are compensated to some extent by the article publishing charges, paid by the authors. The teams involved in the publication involve the following:
The Screening Team
The screening team performs initial technical checks of the manuscript.
The Editorial Team
The Editorial team helps the journal's Academic Editors manage the review process.
The Language Team
The language team helps to edit the paper based on (1) readability and clarity, of the content (2) compliance/consistency in using words/terms and punctuation; (3) correct the grammar. (4) Clarity of language style.
The Production Team
The production team converts the manuscript to a professionally typeset article and well-structured XML.
The Proofing Team
The proofing team coordinates the proofing process.
The Editorial Quality Assurance Team
The editorial quality assurance team performs a final check before going online.
The DOI Team
The DOI team follows up with CrossRef to assign the DOI number to each article.
The Technology Team
The technology team builds and maintains the servers, database, and Journal’s webpage.
The APC is payable only when the manuscript is editorially accepted. Upon editorial acceptance of an article, the corresponding author will be notified about the publication fee.
The Corresponding author needs to arrange payment unless a waiver has been granted. We advise prompt payment of publication fee, as we are unable to publish accepted articles until payment has been received.

Payment can be made online using secure payment gateways i.e. PayPal/SWIFT Transfer etc., as soon as the manuscript has been editorially accepted.

Who is responsible for APCs payment?
The corresponding author of the manuscript is responsible for making the APCs.
When do I pay?
Upon acceptance of the paper, the corresponding author will be notified about the APCs. The corresponding author needs to arrange payment unless a waiver has been granted, or your institution or employer is covering the cost.
We advise prompt payment as we are unable to publish accepted articles until payment has been received.
Can APCs be waived if lack funds?
We consider individual waiver requests for articles in SvedbergOpen journals on a case-by-case basis and they may be granted in case of lack of funds. It is limited to one or two waivers per issue. To apply for a waiver please request one during the submission process. A decision on the waiver will normally be made within a day or two. Requests made during the review process or after acceptance will not be considered.
I am from a low-income country, do I have to pay an APC?
We will provide a discount or waiver if you are based in a low-income or a lower-middle-income economy. Please request this waiver or discount during submission.
What is APC refund policy?
SvedbergOpen will refund an article processing charge (APC) if an error on our part has failed to publish the selected articles. This may include the failure to make an article openly available on the journal platform. A refund will only be offered if these errors have not been corrected within 20 days of publication.
APCs will not be refunded when articles are retracted as a result of author error or misconduct.
