Over the years, popular culture has become another area of interest for the scholars in the field of communication and scholars from other fields, such as Sociology, Anthropology, Political Science to mention but a few. This paper looks into the various categories of popular culture and their influences in the consumerist society. As a matter of fact, numerous examples are cited from the context of Nigeria with a little blend of foreign instances.
